Arthur Allen
Arthur Allen is a poet and translator from Cheshire. He is the author of Twenty Twenty: Treatments for Cut Flowers (runner-up, Erbacce Prize for Poetry 2021) and The Nurseryman (winner, Eyelands Book Awards 2019 Poetry Prize). Arthur is currently reading for a PhD in grief and semiotics at the University of Edinburgh.
Art of the Lost Love-Object: An autobiography in fragments, reflecting the shocks and fixations in the wake of sudden loss; a record of magical thinking and the notes from reading grief-works of all kinds, of searching without finding, against the fixed therapeutic model of mourning. In essence, a cross-genre book, braiding memoir, poetry, quotation, and fragment into a kaleidoscopic exploration of grief over time. It is the culmination of six years of personal note-keeping since the sudden death of my father in 2016. Hopefully, it will be a document about how to make art out of loss.
